The situation here is a mess, but our online community was free until now!!
I hate Facebook, and definitely the comments were stupid and unnecessary.
But I will never accept any kind of censorship against our online community!!
If these students weren’t released soon, Lebanon, prepare yourself for MANY Lebanese sites like freekareem.org and freefouad.com (and many others) to join your online community!!

My name is Dan and I am a student at The University of Vermont. I am studying Middle Eastern culture with a focus on Lebanon for an Anthropology course. I found your blog and have been reading through your posts, I find your opinions on many issues on the Middle East and Lebanon incredibly insightful and will continue to read (as long as you update!). This Particular post upset me and posed questions about censorship laws inside Lebanon. Has there been a history of internet censorship of this kind in Lebanon, and on what level do the police/government monitor internet usage in Lebanon? Have their been any other examples of internet Slander cases reported in Lebanon? I was also curious after reading the link you posted above about how far “violating public morality” laws go in Lebanese society and what kind of actions constitute this behavior? I am very interested in your response to my questions and hope to hear from you. Thanks!

I’m sorry I don’t have enough info about the subject…this was the only time I hear about such censorship in Lebanon..usually the ‘virtual’ Lebanon is free…I don’t know about any other incidents..
